For Sale: 1971 Dart Swinger project. I dont really want to sell, but I do want my new driveway..so I need to raise some cash. So, here's the deal. Car is a clean titled 318/904/7 1/4 car. It's FE5 red, black interior, black vinyl top, w/an aftermarket sun roof. I have done all the body work, except spraying color. I replaced the right 1/4, and repaired the left, plus a few patches in the fenders and rocker areas. All in all, it was a very clean CT car. I performed a 4sp swap, so it has the pedals and floor now. Car has an 8 3/4 with 3.55s and a sure grip. My plans were for a FAST type 340 clone car, but it wont be legal 'cause of the sun roof. I have a pile of parts for it, including the good 340 manifolds, close to correct ('72) intake, carb, and 71 air cleaner. I have a selection of 340s, I was going to go 422, and have some of the stroker parts. But, what I'm offereing, is to basically design your car. I can fabricate, paint, build anything driveline wise, and I have cores for any combo. So tell me you want an orange 383 4sp, it's yours. Want a 318 with desert gears. No sweat. a 505/727 drag car complete with cage and Dana, no problem. As the car sits, (roller, ready for final block and paint, plus trim and misc to complete) I'm looking for $3000. It's got a decent (albeit dirty) interior, I have decent bumpers and stuff, the correct factory hood scoops, exh tips, and a repro tail stripe with it. Lets talk about what you want out of it, and prices for finished car will vary. Delivery of finished car to be at latest May 1 of '08. Fresh pics available by request, and all work to this point has been documented on film. FYI, I have core LA318,340,LA360, 318 and 360 Magnums, 383, 400, and 440 engines. 904, 727A and B, A833OD, and A833 trans cores available. PM me here, or email me at [email protected] and lets talk.

"roller, ready for final block and paint, plus trim and misc [to complete the body] after paint"

The details: all the trim I have, the hardware, everything but the windshield for the body (needed after I broke the %$^#! thing). Including the twin scoops and the body as it sits. The car had the rocker trims, and the belt mouldings, but I removed all traces of the belt mouldings. They are included in the parts pile. It's got an OK interior, the carpet was replaced, but it's been stored outside in a Cover It for 2 years now. The carpets a mess. The pedals are in it, the bench seat, etc. It has the small bolt 8 3/4 with 3.55s and a grip. I drove it to a cruise night and around the neighborhood with a 360/4spOD. So I know the brakes and stuff worked, and all the small parts are still in boxes and containers. The front end has been totally gone thru by a previous owner. So it's got some miles, but it's all replaced bushings, ball jts, etc, plus it's been upgraded to '74 style disc brakes. Those newer parts have some miles on them, but they're solid. The body's in a thick coat of high build grey primer/sealer. I stripped the car to bare on the exterior, and went from there. All documented. Trunk and engine bay are in the same primer. Engine bay was stripped also, trunk was not. Then it got a coat of etching primer, body work over that, then the high build. It will need all new weatherstrips, seals, emblems, stuff like that. I did inside the jambs too. It's just about ready to spray color. It will need to be blocked lightly to remove some crud (mouse stuff and bugs and crap) and minor scratches it got in storage, then topcoated. It is not perfect. My specialyty is powertrains. But, it's a very solid Swinger body. Personally, I'd prefer to finish the car for someone so I get come kind of closure on it...lol.. I've got a ton more stuff for it, but it wont go with the body if that's how it sells. You cant get a well done (starting with a painted car, stripping to bare, then flatenning and repeated blockings) paint job for $2K. Never mind the steel replacement repairs. Or the upgraded parts. Or the purchase value of a clean titled '71 Swinger. Prob take another $3-5 to pay to have it completed at a normal body shop, and then whatever the drivetrain you have for it will go for. I could finish it right for anybody complete all new driveline with a small block drive train either stick or auto for about $12,000 depending on colrs and build, in your choice of colors, engine, trans, and gearing. PM me for pics(i'll have to take them, but I can email) and more details or if you have any ideas.
Thanks

Dave, I would like to hear about this FAST type 422 you had planned.

Kinda sounds like How I want my car. Stock looking cruiser that can run in the 12s.

;) I spoke to Ralph, and because of the color I want on it, and the sunroof, it's never going to be legal. I wasnt about to ruin the factory top and plug the hole, plus have to paint it a boring factory color, just so some guy can tell me it's ok to race...lol. I had a few tricks I wanted to work on. PM me. I think you're well on your way to reaching your goal anyway. I just wish the price of trucking and tar would have remained lower. I'm rather disappointed to be honest.

My car cant be legal because its a Scamp. Im not sure if a 71 340 Swinger is either because there were only 50 made and all were sold in Canada.

Well, "He" said it was ok. (I figured it's light, I can hide things like an aluminum case trans, the 340 still has the good intake(no floor jets) and carb, and as a bonus, I can run electronic ignition. I dont think production level matters, so long as it's not a limited production type peice. Like a HemiCuda '71 ragtop would be legal, even tho few were made, so long as it was "correct" appearing. My color and sunroof are not "correct", so it's no good.

I took a bunch of pics this past weekend if anyone's interested. Send me your email, and I'll shoot them to you. Thanks!
