My 70 Dart has a factory (or so I thought) front sway bar, also has KelseyHays discs. It was my understanding that the factory bar was 13/16 diameter
. I'm in the process of rebuilding the front suspension and when I checked the diameter of the bar is 1 1/8 inch !!
The rubber bushings definitely
Looked 50 yrs old.
Was there an 1 1/8 sway bar offering
From the factory, or is it a replacement/aftermarket bar ??

I looked online at many bars, this one looks exactly like a Hellwig bar with the pronounced arch in the middle of the bar ????

to my knowledge there was only the 7/8 big block bar and the 13/16 small block bar

that doesn't look like a PST bar, so hellwig is more than likely correct in that it visually comes closer. what do the ends and mounts look like?

Same as the Hellwig
The rubber bar mounting biscuits were toast, I'm thinking that someone put that bar on a long time ago.
I'm 65 and I don't remember Hellwig from the 70's

the the car only has one option, KelseyHays brakes. IIRC the brakes and bar came together, same as the 340 cars.

hellwig has been producing that bar for 20 years or so... it's safe to say that it could have been on there a long time!

my 69 had factory KH and no swaybar. the brakes were separate from S and handling packages (somebody with more understanding of minutia will more than likely be along to correct me). but i do know you could get a 340 S with drums and a bar, so there's that.

anyway, the best way to know is check the mounting hardware and the ends of the bar against what else is out there. each is specifically different in a way that's fairly recognizable.

Thank you junkyardhero, I have a lot of Mopar literature, manuals, etc, none of which have any info on what was available suspension wise on Darts of that era.
Maybe someone could add to what you said.

I'm happy to have it,
From 7/8 or 13/16 factory bars to
Hellwig 1.125. Or 1 1/8 inch
I should feel the difference
