A-Body,

You know the 'deal'.

Every Chevy Small Block Guy on the street wanted the 327/350 HP Camshaft.

Back-in-the-Day, what did they call this Chevy Camshaft........ ???
That"s a damn good question.and honestly ( for once!lol.),I am at a loss for words.I don't know... I always called it the L79,or the 151 grind.First cam,I was around,and it worked/works..... Actually never seen that 340 cam,honk.

A-Bomber,

I've heard many names for Camshafts when I worked at my Father's Machine Shop.

But never this one..............

One guy came in and said he wanted a '327 Juicer' in his Small Block Chevy.

We all looked at each other, and had 'No Effing' idea of what he was talking about.

We asked, what is a '327 Juicer'.

The Cool Chevy guy replied....."A Juicer man. Squish squish. Hydraulic"

I remember when I was a kid in the '70's one of my dad's friends had a '55 chevy with a 283 with that 350 horse cam. It had a decent lope to it.

Clarification,Thank You.....

There it is! The 327/375hp motor I was talking bout. 375 at bout 7200 rpm?

I have allways wondered about those "375" horse 327s, I know people talk about they were so awesome and all, but they made 100 more HP than the 340? or the same HP as the 440 HP? I dunno, it seems like I remember a magazine article testing head flow, and those double hump heads were no better than a X head....

3/4 cam man...that was the rage,or full race cam...sheosh...I'll take a double cam sir...lmao

You Guys Got it ...."We" old timers called the solid lift cam the "30-30" which in fact (as far as I know it, I had one) was the Valve lash setting and real Gear Heads would understand (at least the chevy guys). The "151" Hydraulic cam was actualy (as far as I know it, I had one) was the last three digits in the part number. Both were very good cams for the small block from the factory. I have fallen ln love with Mopar since my Daughter wated one and I have started building it with all of your help here on this forum. Just my 2 cents from a chevy convert....

I personally liked the "151" with anti pump up lifters, Brown springs (don't ask me on that one) and Blue tipped push Rods with "O" stamped Rocker arms. Don't for get to "Pin" the rocker studs (they were pressed in and some would pull out under hard use (yep I know that one ) HA ! Killer combination on the Street, back in the Day..... It would be nice for someone to figure out the same parallel for the factory Mopar small block cams for us chevy converts......Tim :D
