I have a 68 Dart 270 that I am building. Please clarify for me, from the factory, if the interior was selected as black or white, then is every part of the interior black or white including the upper door metal? And if not a black or white interior then the upper door is body color? Or could you choose the upper door metal color regardless of the interior color? Thanks.

There is a separate code for 'upper door color'. It was even possible to have a 'tri color' interior.

I don't know much about this. My dads 68 gtx has white interior w/ the all metal parts the same color as the out side, forrest green. My 69 barracuda interior is all dark green w/ a lighter green out side.

Not sure how they decided what color to put with white. I do know of an all original maroon '68 GTS that has white seats and door/rear panels, with matching maroon paint on the interior sheet metal. The carpet, dash, steering wheel, and console closely match the maroon, but are matte. I recall an original B5 blue Dart had a similar scheme. On a yellow car, everything would be white including the sheet metal, with black carpets, dash, console, and steering wheel. Unfortunately, you can't go by most pictures found on the WWW because so many cars have been "restored" incorrectly.

My dad was telling me that the paint on the metal interior parts was shiny. He would know, he bought a couple of new cars back then. A 69 barracuda, 67 gtx & the 68 gtx he has owned since 72.

i've seen a few different ways other then what you are asking. is this a 100% resto? if not then do it how you think looks best.
