Old Carter number for the mechanical pumps (small block) is M60514 or M60519; neither work for vehicles with the factory oil coolers. The hard line (oil return line) won't clear the flared upper section of the pump housing. Airtex can re-build your old one for $150, but Arthur Gould is about $100 with shipping.
Tried several brands @ several different parts stores- all are cast w/the larger body. Do NOT throw the old one away...:happy1:

Sure you can just run an electric fuel pump (hopefully the kind inside the fuel tank).

If I get to putting SMPFI on it, sure...but to use it for a reliable A-to-B drive for awhile, the mech pump will get freshened up

Ice (over @ Dippy.org) found 2 parts places who have the pump- ironically here in Washington State. Len @ Deception Pass Auto Parts has them for $38 each, plus tax and shipping. Collector's Auto (in Oroville) has them for $90, plus tax and shipping.
