Factory sun roof

-
Very! Someone may have one for sale here. If you go to Carlie, brings lot-O-cash because the seller is going to prices it for the fool who has gold to throw away.

Pretty common, several of my A-Bodies have factory Moonroofs (aka Sunroofs).

Both of my '73 Dart Sports have factory moonroofs, so does my '73 Duster, and I have a spare roof from a Moonroof car, as well as a roof from a "V3X" Car (V3X being the Canvas Roof, that one is pretty rare, since it was only available in 1971 and 1972. I've heard there was only about 60 of those made).

Many of the parts are readily available/cheap too... IF you shop outside of the mopar world. The factory Moonroofs were manufactured by Golde, a company that built Moonroofs for everything from Fords & Chevy's to Porsches and Volkswagens.

Cables can be crossed over to other applications, for example, same with the "transmission"/worm gears, crank handles, etc.

Example on the price difference. Mopar world price for a Crank Handle : $70+... Buy it for another Make/Model car : about $5. The Handle I bought for my '73 Duster was for a Volkswagen, had the same part number as the "Mopar" Handle, same style. Brand New, cost me $5

I'd disagree on "common".

In the past 30 years, I've seen maybe 20% of all the A bodies I've ever seen with them. By far most of those have been "29" body sports roofs.

Also, "seat of the pants" statistics seem to indicate that 1974 was a good year for sun/moon roofs in both A and B body cars.

That whippersnapper with three sunroof cars got REAL lucky!

IMO/IIRC the "holy grail" post '69 A body is a 340, 4 speed, sunroof, space Duster, with A/C and FM radio in HIP paint.

i was kind of curious how "rare" my duster was. it's a 1974 318 auto "space duster" with factory air, factory crank moonroof, and center counsole. Not that the value really matters to me because this car will never be sold, but just to know.

Sounds like my '73 Dart Sport, only without High Impact Paint
