I have someone interest in buying a set of j heads off me. They are bone stock and came off my 360. I saw a lot of people are asking 150-200 for similiar heads but not sure what they sell for. What is a fair price to give this cat?

If they are early 360 and don't need any work, I think that's ballpark value.

I agree with the 150-200 mark. I sold a pair for $80 once, due to how rusty they were. But if they are known good, that’s a good price.

Honestly I never even measure the valves. The motor came out of a late 70s motorhome with unknown miles but I would bet I didn’t put 1000 miles on them.

You'll know if its 2.02's, the valves will look like they are touching each other. the 1.88's have visible metal between the valves.

I have a stack of J heads and can't get $100 for a pair. They don't sell like X heads.

If I can’t get $100 bucks for them then I’ll end up with a pile like yours one day haha

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all things about the castings the same except the 2.02 vs 1.88 valve seats?

They're worth whatever someone will pay. IMO - those are run of the mill cores. So $100-ish would be max for me knowing they need work to really do anything for me. Iron just doesn't sell for much.

Actually I like worn out 1.88 s better than worn-out 2.02 because you can put the 2.02s in the 1.88 head and have new seats in the proper position not all sunk down
or are you thinking "free .2.02 valves"
I have a stack all pressure tested and Magged with high quality hard seats on the exhaust and K-line spiral guides just waiting for a final sizing (like the new OOB aluminum ones :)
        they do not move
back when they move did I could select choice of valves, stick heads in the Serdi and and also open up below the valve job with a cutter and do it quickly, let customer blend the bowls and whatever porting they wanted to do and then they or I could assemble

I dunno, man, "Run of the mill" doesn't apply on something like this as Mopar no longer makes the castings. I don't think the 360 magnums are the same. It applies when someone wants cast iron heads, not everyone will want to run aluminum. IMO aluminum is high maintenance, and will need head gaskets replaced at some point. This may be a non issue however as a resto probably wouldn't get driven much and racers don't mind tearing their engines down frequently. I don't think selling the stuff for the price of scrap is wise, unless we are talking 318 heads, they are or were dime a dozen, hell someone gave me a set for free once, but that was back in 1990. I also don't think the stuff is gold either, I think $300 for the J head set is reasonable, but keep in mind I am on the east coast and these cars got scrapped and crushed in short order in my part of the country, they also rusted out very quickly.
