Hello, I am new to the forum as I just bought my first a body. This Barracuda is a Canadian made 273 4barrel car, I am wondering if anyone can help me decode this fender tag? The vin is easy but not so with the tag, for me anyways…
Thanks!

From what I have for '66-8 models, it looks to be a gold metallic car with premium gold interior. The body code is a bit hard to read, but, looks to confirm that it's a V8 Barracuda.

A: 1965 model
V: Valiant line
2: V8 engine
P: Premium trim (all Barracudas)
29: 2-door fastback (=Barracuda)

P4Y: Interior trim; I'm about 90 per cent sure that's the code for gold vinyl on the Canadian cars, same as it is on the US-built cars.

Paint code, I'm comin' up blank. I no longer have my '65 Canadian literature, and there's no ZZ on the US paint chip chart.

ZZ is gold metallic in '66.
Thanks, the car has been repainted but there is a spot under the hood as well as the interior that is original and definitely gold. The interior is different being that it has the dart dash, the seats are vinyl with cloth, they are in decent shape but the foam is breaking up on the drivers side and the passenger side has some sun damage. I would sure like to keep them original so I may see if legendary can do a custom order.

Thank you! I am kinda wondering what the body number 1864 means? Judging by the numbers of 273 4 barrel auto’s produced, I am kinda thinking there may not have been a lot of the Canadian made gold Valiant Barracudas produced. I know my b body’s fairly well but I am learning more about this car and I am glad I bought it…

This is what I come up with on the first 5 digits on the vin, the rest don’t matter…
V- Valiant
9- premium 8
B 2dr hardtop
5- 1965
9- Canada
The second digit 9 seems to tell me it’s a 273 commando engine it would seem.

Does the 1864 match the shipping order number stamped on the radiator core support or the VIN?

So the year is the 4th digit in Canada? It's the 3rd digit in the U.S. The 4th digit here is the plant code.

Yeah for sure, they are different in Canada. I found this on a old post the other day. It’s a little hard to read but most can be made out.
