Can anyone help with decoding this tag? I don't think I'm looking at dependable decoders, because it's not matching up to the car. I used to have a link to a site that you just filled in the numbers and letters in the appropriate spot and it spit out the decode. That was great, but couldn't find the link.

Thanks!

Thanks. Can you share your decoder? So on the Lynch Rd plant, is that LA? Was told car was built at the LA plant.
Looks like the bucket seats mine has were added later.

So there is no engine/transmission info on the fender tag that year? VIN shows Slant 6, GT, 1963, LA plant.

Source is one of Galen's little white books. That I picked up in 2014 or so.

It didn't list have the transmission breakout. Just that there were 28420 made.

Lynch road is in Michigan.

Lynch road is in Michigan. 1 under 2 means it was made on assembly line 1
LA plant would be 7_ under AB.
Q 5 in LA was heater with defroster.

Here I am making mistakes again. The book is cryptic for 63 to determine plant.
A 3 is 4 speed
B 2 is 225 1bbl 245hp

See here you go, this is why I got confused. lol.
7435 first digits of VIN. 7 - Slant 6, 4 - GT, 3 - 1963, 5 - LA plant.

A3 - This car is a push button three speed auto, not a four speed

Yes, toolmanmike always has the right tools. lol

I've seen supposedly 1962-65 decoders that are all over the place what these numbers mean.

Factory paint white. Scheduled date of assembly 0726 (July 26, 1963) Last week of assemble of the 1963 model run.

Thanks. Body, trim, paint info was pretty easy to decode. It's the 32 under AB that I kept finding information that didn't fit the car. The 2-1 on the top could indicate a right side mirror, which the car doesn't have now, but it could have in the past. When I bought the car it had been repainted, and other than the drivers side mirror all the other emblems had been removed and original holes filled and painted over. It made finding and getting all the emblems back on the car a challenge. I didn't put a right side mirror on, but according to earlycuda.org the 1 under the 2 on the top row indicates that mirror. However earlycuda doesn't even show a 32 option under the AB, so who knows!

I'm getting ready to sell my 63 GT. California car till 2021, very clean, no rust, great car. I'm trying to get in front of questions that may come up about the fender tag.

I would post the car here in the forums, but fab requires a sell price, and the car will be up for auction at BAT. No reserve. Should be listed in a few days.
