The filler neck on my 74 Dart Sport (now a 71 Duster), has (had) a sort of baffle in it that makes it really hard to clean out. I'm guessing that the purpose of it is to prevent back splash when fueling.
I took it out and was able to clean the two pieces. I figured I could slide it back in and replace the spot weld that was holding it in place. Even if I ruined it, I could get a new one. Well, I don't know how they got it in there, but it wasn't easy getting it out, and it distorted it as I pulled it out.
Sooo, do I need it?
