Finallt I got the K-frame out.

Once I got the torsion bars out, it went kinda easy. A friend, that is helping me, had a torsion bar removal tool. Man! That made that job easy.
Only problem was, as we lowered it and pulled it slowly forward, the below pictured shaft came with it. Had the pin out of the coupler, but the steering box shaft would not come loose, from the coupler.

Here's my question. Did I screw up? Or does that shaft just slide back up into the steering column?

Various opinions on the safety of doing so. I think I'd feel OK if it fits "tight" and neither piece shows damage. The one thing you must remember, is that the coupler body only goes on the box one way, but you can ASSEMBLE the shaft into the box EITHER way. So if the steering wheel is upside down when the box is centered, you know "whut."
 
You'll never get the splines to slide off with the tension on them, this is the result. The pins are part of the collapsable column to keep from impaling the driver. It can be pushed back in without a problem.
