So I lost a gear in my Lenco a few weeks back. Shift lever pull was at 3 pounds. It should be 45. Tried adjusting it and went back to the track. It was good for about 2 runs. My first run was like 10.5 at 133 but the next was an 11 something at 106. Same forward section of the lenco was not holding. Ordered a clutch pack set up from Scott at Lenco. (Thank you Scott) pulled the front section off and disassembled the clutch pack in the drum. The friction discs looked a little dark but still had the cross hatch on them. The steels were black and blue though. Put new stuff in which really wasn't expensive and checked the few measurements that they said I should. Everything OK. Put it back together and in.
Track this Saturday at Epping. Hoping I didn't mess anything up. First run netted a new best MPH of 135.70. Red light start. No big deal qualifying. 10.21 with a poor 60. Next run again over 135. Awesome but a 10.26 with a weak 60 foot time. Usually 1.55s (not great I know) so dial in time. 10.25...car has run a best of 10.08 but its 10.20s today.
Write 10.25 and promptly run a 10.049 again at over 135! Double break out. I lose but I was very happy with my new best et and mph. If I'd had another run I think I'd finally see my first 9. Next time I think.
The car is running good and straight and pulls hard. Next few weekends are out for me but there's still.plenty of time left at New England Dragway! Woohoo!

Nice! And no offense but I would not stop looking for big gains in the 60's. Should be about .2 or so quicker there.

Yes my 60 foot time should be better. Too many adjustments/variables so Im not sure where to go. DA shocks all around, soft locker clutch, tire pressure and Calvert split mono leafs. Im not sure why but the car drove through my burn out all 3 times. I stayed in the same lane all 3 runs to try and limit that variable. Test and tune....Im just glad my Lenco clutch pack replacement went OK. And for the less than 200 bucks it wasn't really that expensive. Had I been checking my pull pressure I probably could have saved that clutch pack. Its a learning curve.

Just curious are the clutch packs made for lenco or are they like turbo 400 clutches? Saw a guy rebuiild one in a video a few weeks ago, it's a very cool design

I don't know what a 400 pack looks like. I would hazard to guess they are proprietary for Lenco. Ill post up some pictures. 8 discs 9 steels. This is in the ST1200. Rated to 1200 hp.

There was an extra steel at each end and 1 was thicker. Selective thicknesses available to set pack clearance. Lenco sent me exactly what was in it. And there tech people are great and answer the phone. Are these 400 style?

I did a quick search and people said they are based on old C6 clutches but the inner teeth are shorter (which you can see in your pics) and it's not worth trying to modify ones to fit.. $200 wasn't bad at all from lenco, i was just more curious is all

Never been into a Lenco, but I understand the basics. Can you change gear ratios in the planetaries?

I thought you were a bad *** before I knew your car had a Lenco in it. Super cool.

Haha that's funny. Each Lenco section has 2 speeds. You engage the section by manually compressing the clutch pack, you activate its other gear. They have infinite amounts of gear ratios available. Whatever your 2 speeds are in your section are matched by the gear in the next section both in front and behind. Im not sure if you get different sun gears or planetaries. They helped me choose my gears. They tried to set up each section so that when I shift into the next gear it drops right to the sweet spot on the torque curve. My dyno sheet helped.

With a clutch car you won't be able to get the rear compression stiff enough on the shocks. Doesn't really matter what type of suspension either, unless it's a radial tire car, I can't offer any help for those. Set rear extension midway on the settings, front shocks loose on extension, midway on compression. Car should be in the low 1.30s even 1.20s 60'.

I will give e your shock recommendations a try. Right now its C 12 and R 5 on the front shocks and C9 and R16 on the rears. These are Viking DA shocks.
