We can land men on the moon in 1969 but we can't find a decently made flip-flop/thong type sandal at WalMart in 2018. It seemed my current pair of flip-flops were going to last forever, but finally last week one strap gave way. Upon further inspection, I found the three "buttons" that hold the straps secure were not exposed on the bottom sole of the footwear, but were molded inside the thick platform part. This protected those buttons from wearing out while walking around.
Now at Walmart last night, I found display after display of thousands of flip-flops of every different color, style, and brand. All of them had the buttons attached through the bottom of the footwear, where i guarantee they will wear off in no time as soon as one walks around a bit. They were not even a little recessed like they used to be in the cheap ones. I'll bet Neanderthals had it figured out better than that.
I refused to purchase any of that crap, I will go barefoot in protest! (first three fotos are my beloved, faithful flip-flops)
