Foods to burn belly fat

To this day diabetes educators recommend OJ as a blood sugar rescue. It's one of the worst choices a diabetic could make. A real double whammy. It's half fructose which raise your sugars way after you've recovered from your low.
After I lost my two Shih Tzus last year, I was really sad. I quit trying to eat healthy(er). Family makes it difficult. My wife wants what she wants and it isn't health food. I worked a lot at my parents house the last several years. Mom always thinks I need something to eat. While I was there, she would cook or drag out leftovers and cake or pie. She is a good cook but again, maybe not the healthiest for me. She moved in with us last July.

I had a heart episode in February... afib for short. Couple nights in the hospital. Multiple follow up appointments.

May 1st, the heart doctor wanted to put me on a statin. I did not take them. I have heard nothing but bad about them. Ok. Time to get serious about my diet. I can do this.

I looked up foods to lower cholesterol quickly. Oatmeal, apples, walnuts for good cholesterol were listed first. That is what I eat every morning. Avacado and beans were also on the list so I eat a salad with avacado, black beans, and a few spoonfuls of salsa for dressing.

In March, my doctor said I need to start a low dose thyroid med. Every morning, I take it with water only for this first hour. Then I take a low dose heart med and eat my oatmeal.

Got my fasting bloodwork done July 2nd. My cholesterol dropped from 234 to 171 in two months. My TSH went from too high to too low so I think I may not need the thyroid med.

I read that too much caffeine could trigger afib so I cut out the coffee along with milk.

A side effect of this is I have lost 30 lbs so far... 186 to 156. Arthritis quite bothering me. Reflux is gone. Big win for me.
My Marine buddy is 5'9" and over 300#. He has afib and sleep apnea. His mom encouraged overeating until her demise. His dad is as thin as a rail and works dawn to dusk and he's over 80. Sounds like you're on a good path! Keep up the good work

Dunno about the whole egg thing. Unverified sources lead me to question its estrogen giving qualities.

Anyone else heard such drivel?
I have read about estrogen effects of soy. Most any processed food you look at, the ingredients show include soy. If you look at 100% vegetable oil... guess what that is. Soy bean oil. When I was eating regular salads, I made my own dressing. Paul Newman also has a couple of vinegarette dressings that use olive oil.
Because of my heart issue, I stopped drinking regular coffee. Then a nurse told me that even decaf is not caffeine free so I stopped altogether. Coffee was about all I drank. Probably 6 - 8 mugs a day. So I stopped going through 2 gallons of milk a week. I had also wondered what kinds of hormones I may be getting from milk.
Right now, I feel the best I have in a couple of years.

Yeah, I know better than to drink OJ. I do occassionally peel and eat an orange. Sometimes I put blueberries on my oatmeal and eat my morning apple separately.

I do half n half, organic if it's available. A whole orange is a whole lot better than the juice. I'm on a glucose monitor and fruit hardly registers compared to juice. Bananas excepted. Blueberries and apples are both really good for you, soluble fibers and pectin. Excellent choices.

I un-gave up coffee btw. My crutch

I rarely eat a banana.
I do organic if it's not crazy more expensive.

And I have recently started missing my coffee. I was a truck driver for 27 years. I quit twice to see if I felt better. I didn't so I started back. Both times, I thought it tasted terrible. I had to sweeten it to like it. And both times I tapered off the sweetener after a few weeks. But I always liked it about ¾ coffee and ¼ milk. Beef and dairy both jacked up my arthritis. I knew it but I didn't want to give up milk in my coffee. Chicken, eggs, or fish don't seem to bother arthritis for me though I may only eat 2 servings per week.

I hear exercise and a calorie deficit works too. :poke:
Preach, brother.

You know that your avatar is a donut, right?

I also thought about my reflux problem. Again, as a truck driver, I was always in a hurry to git'r done. Now retired, I thought about reading that digestion starts with saliva. I slowed done, started chewing my food better, and sometimes out of caution, I chew some gum before going to bed. Reflux is history. Yay!

That made me laugh. Thanks. Guilty as charged

This is the recipe I saw. It lists different choices. I use olive oil, apple cider vinegar, the salt, pepper, and yellow mustard. I think it took a few bites to decide but I decided I really like it.

And this is the only bread I eat now. I read about it for years in body building magazines but didn't know what it was. Then while shopping gluten free foods for my wife, I came across it in the frozen section. It is a chewier, tougher bread but I really like it.
