Sad, the B-29 had such an inglorious retirement. Most were tossed off to scrap or gunnery targets. Currently there is only one in the world left flying, Fifi. There is another that keeps struggling for airworthy restoration, "Doc", but funds and storage are always short. Consider that the next time you can't find the window trim for your 'Cuda.

Very good point, and then a few years back, we had The Smithsonian trying to rewrite history around the Enola Gay and the atomic bomb

Oh yeah, what a huge pile of horse hockey that was.
 
PBYs are cool airplanes. They were used for YEARS in this part of the country for water bombers (fires). Lots of lakes around here, they scoop right out of the lake

There are severall important rescues of WWII that those girls were involved in
