For those of you who installed A/C systems in your non A/C cars. Which way did you go and why? I am just wondering which route i should choose - Stock or aftermarket setups.

Hope you don't mind a B-body guy replying. I am in the same spot wondering which way to go. I believe I will go aftermarket with my car. Am trying to choose between Vintage Air, Classic Auto Air & Hot Rod Air products. It is very hard to find articles & photos on the web on Mopar A/C installs. Below is some stuff I have found...

Classic Auto Air ( www.classicautoair.com ) offers their "Perfect Fit" series for old cars. This system will use your heater ctls to operate both heat & A/C. Have heard they have great tech support. This sys uses a Sanden compressor & mounts in stock location. Check out their web site. Below is an install photo set from "Mopar Muscle" mag on a 1967 Valiant:

Classic Auto Air install on a Cuda:

Classic Auto Air install on B-body from "Mopar Muscle" Mag:

Is this helpful ? Have some more info if you need or want it.

I would check out some of the other post here also cause some of the guys that have done the install we're saying that they had problems with cable lenght and radio fit problems.I'm also looking to get AC put in the barracuda next.I'm thinking about the generation IV unit because it's all elect.no cables or vacume lines to deal with .you can place it any where you want. cole's dad

I bought the classic Auto Air for my 69 Cuda...It did not seem to fit as nice through the firewall hole as the B Body kit did. It fits nice under the dash.

I used some factory & aftermarket parts in my most recent conversion. I used one of my factory A/C-equipped Dusters to create a firewall template and transferred the cut-outs to my wife's non-A/C-equipped Swinger. I then had Classic Auto Air refurbish a factory air/heater box (they performed fantastic work by the way!) and bought a Sanden conversion kit from them. So her car now has factory appearing A/C in the interior and an updated A/C system underhood. Works great and looks like Ma Mopar did the original installation except for the compressor.
