How much work and how expensive is swapping in a Ford 9in rear into my '74 Valiant? I have one lined up for some minor bodywork to a friends car. Also, what transmission should I use for a mild build 383? I have a 904 but I believe the 904 was for 6's and small blocks.

Thanks

Depends on what housing. Just like Ma, Ferd made all kinds of widths. If you are lucky to have a narrow one, Stang, etc, it "might" bolt in. Otherwise "it's the usual." Narrow it, new axles, move perches, etc.

Easy part is the U joint, a conversion joint from Fort to Mopar UNLESS you have the so called "big cap" U joints which are a tiny bit larger than the "regular" Ford joints.

i'm using a ford 9 inch in my 73 dart. it's out of a 59 full size ford same size as a stang, same size as a body dodge.
