Are there any differences in the under dash wiring harnesses for a 65 barracuda vs. a formula s other than the tach? If I have a tach and sending unit, can it be added to an existing 65 under dash wring harness?

Also, where does the tach sending unit get its signal? This is confusing me...
On the 2nd gen cudas, the tach gets signal from coil -ve I believe. Lemme chk my manual to be sure
Just chkd my 69 cuda manual, signal from coil -ve(thru bulkhead connector) and power from fuseblock
The tach should get its 12 volts from the fuse box. You could tap the 12 volt supply to the inst' panel but... that line isn't fused. If I didn't have accessory fuse slot available I would get 12 volts form the load end of the turn signal fuse.
Are you talking about the 65 only Formula S?

The signal is from the Distributor (-) side of the coil... Very easy to add/make the simple wire harness... see diagram below...
There are a number of blades on the backside of the fusebox to tap your 12V from, thats where the factory got it from!! Geof

I forgot that previous to 67, the tachs MAY have a separate sending unit. 67-9 do not.
