I have a 360 out of a 1978 Codoba. Took the oil filter off and it is a Fram Ultra Guard PH 43. Purchased a Mopar MO090 from Oreillys. The adaptor is flush with the engine, not a 90°. The problem is the Fram PH43 measure .65” thread while the Mopar measures .75”. When I look at the specks for a Fram PH43 it says the thread are .75”. I can’t figure out what the deal is.

The thread on the Fram is 3/4 But that measurement is taken out side of the threads on the male fitting, Not the female in the filter. measure the male thread. I believe the MO090 filter should cross over to a PH8A long or a PH43 for the shorter style. If it don't fit it's the wrong thread on the filter you bought

Back when I sold Dodge trucks we had an issue with Cummins engines failing . This was maybe 2 years into production. We were sending entire engines back for autopsy. What engineering discovered was that cheap airfilter elements were tearing and clogging the oil galleys . They sent out a TSB with a list of approved filters to maintain warranty. Fram was not on that list ! Lol

As said, threads are measured on the OUTSIDE, aka the "bolt". If you have a specialized caliper / mike, they make them that has pointedlized thingies that go down into the female treads.

Now don’t be getting nasty Del . Lol

You mean oil filter, right?

Back when the "big push" was on to convert to metric, there was one year that Wix had ZERO application info for some GM cars, this was because of the great engine musical chairs, where you might buy a Buiacobile it might have a Ponch, Olds, Chev, or Buick engine. The Wix catalog just said "go out and look at the X figure of the VIN and if its' A use XXXXXX if ............and so on. and also that at some point, some of them changed to metric

Some had changed to metric, but mechs would outsmart themselves. They "knew" that a Wix whatever was the correct filter (former imperial thread) but now the car was metric. And SOME of those changeover threads were close enough that people would thread them on a turn or two and then FORCE THEM until something was damaged.

Yet another Great Screwup was IHC briefly used AMC engines in some of it's rigs. If you had an AMC 401, IHC renamed it to 400 to differentiate from the IHC built 401. BUT MECHS would outsmart themselves. They'd open the hood, and "oh, I KNOW, THAT is an AMC 401," and they'd come in and order parts for a 401. We'd look up parts for just what he said---and IHC with a 401---and he'd take the WRONG PARTS to the shop

What was the question?

It was, should i buy a canton high flow oil filter adapter and what is a good remote oil filter relocation adapter so i don't have to fight with the $&@#$+*!$ and eat a handful of advil after i change the oil and filter and what else makes draining the oil easier?
And, "So you use Fram oil filters, now what?"

The problem has been fixed. The parts store gave me the wrong filter. They gave me a MO-899 the MO-090 fit. Thanks to all.
