Frame Rail Replacement

many of the better small welders have the gas solenoid allready installed, so all you need is the regulator , the hose and a bottle. the cheap ones dont. some can be added, if your welder cant be set up for gas I would trade it ,sell it ,or toss it. the gas will give you the penetration you are looking for ,and make your life much easier....

The Welder isn't a cheap one it has a higher out put then others of that size I have seen, it is a Lincoln Welder, it's at my dad's right now so I can't check the specifics on it. So this would not be good to use as is then? What about a big Miller stick welder turned down so it wont burn through the materials?

I actually almost avoided alot of the fabrication as I seen a full rear frame rail it good condition on Ebay with the shock cross member and rear cross member and all spring perch pieces as well, the whole setup for 200 bucks it is in Fairfax, Oaklahoma. But the seller got a shipping quote of 724 bucks to where I live and that is out of my budget, I might be able to swing something yet as I got a quote from some online place of 290 and I tried to guess the weight and dimensions giving larger then what I thought so I would see a worse case scenario price quote. Does anyone know the width length and approx weight that this would be?

Once again guys thanks for your help and putting up with my lack of knowledge on the subject, I really appreciate it a bunch. I am off to sleep now it was a long night and I need a few winks before the next one starts. :sleepy1:

that lincoln welder is a decent unit, look on the back of it for a brass fitting, on the lower left i think. if the fitting is there you are all set . just hook the gas hose into it.there is a good deal of info that is usefull inside the cover for the welding wire , also if that welder is set up for the innershield wire, the polarity will need to be switched inside the welder. it is done right where the drive rollers are inside that same cover, just switch the positive and negitive leads...if you have the manual that came with the welder ,read it , you will learn a lot quickly.... sounds like you in good shape.....good luck

Thanks for all of the great information 68gts340 :notworth: I appreciate it a great deal.

I will check out the welder ASAP, Updates will be a while but I will get them up here as soon as there are updates. Just got notice of new exam deadline so I'll be a while getting to the swinger. With any luck at all I will knock this one off the first try so I can get back to me MOPAR. By the way got a better shipping quote for the rear frame rail assembly so I will be getting that and a rear tail light panel. I still have to fab the front rails but this will make things easier for sure, thanks again :salut:

Hey guys,
