I made a deal with a Canadian member here. We traded a service manual and some cash for a LD4B intake. I sent it last week to an address in MI for him because they wanted over $75 to ship it to Canada, and the post office seems to have lost it and I can't get any information from them.

I went to my local station and asked them about it on Tue. They said that they would ask "them" to trace/look for it and to watch the tracking site as that's what they use. Still haven't seen any progress. The last scan is for it leaving my post office just before 2 PM on 8/27. If you try to call their 1-800 number, you just get put on hold forever until you hang up...

So I'm going to keep requesting them to look into it every two days, since that's when they say "they will respond", and when I just tried to click the button to send in another "trouble request", the screen won't accept it, just froze..... :banghead:

I really would rather they find it and get it to him, as the intake is more valuable than the money to us, and that is the only one I planned on selling as I have plans for my other one.

The member knows about this and is being very good about it, I have no complaints about him, we get along fine and I don't want this to hurt our relationship. What more can I do to get them to find our package and send it along to him????

Hey Karl SCC has a pkg that arrived Friday?? Don't sweat over it right now. My buddy isn't going to MI until the end of September.
Believe me we are all good and thanks for the communication!.

Cheers
Steve

Thanks Steve.

It's not just that, that is stressing me out right now. other things that I don't want to talk about in "public forum". I feel that I should have not even have gotten out of bed for the last week as **** keeps happening....

My wife just received a box top with an address in a plastic bag.

It was from the post office and had a printed note that said something to the effect of "...this was found inside one of our machines...our records indicate it was mailed from this address..."

It was mailed in 2012, and cost $32 in postage.

Conveniently (for them) the tracking number was smudged, torn and generally illegible.

When my wife tried to contact the PO, they kept asking for the tracking number.

When she went to the local PO to see about getting at least a refund of the shipping costs, they acted like it was her fault, and even though they did eventually refund the $32, they threatened to come after her if they found the package had been delivered. (without an address or tracking info)

I've had some pretty bad experiences with both fedex and ups, and have been pretty happy with usps up until now. Now I guess I'll drive everywhere myself to personally deliver stuff.

I wouldn't worry yet KK.....I've had packages take 10 days in the US via Priority Mail :wack:

With the holiday weekend, I'm sure they're still catching up...

Probably in the back of a truck. I sent a member a poster in state a while back.tracking kept saying arrived at station for delivery. Took two weeks before he got it.

I've had my dealings with the USPS too and can't say I'm very happy with them. If you sent it priority that really doesn't mean much at all. About a year ago I sent something priority to a member in Iowa (1 state away) and it took 9-10 days to get to him. I wasn't happy and went into the PO to express it and the postmaster said priority just means they'll try to get it there in 2-3 days. Absolutely no guarantee it will be there in 2-3 days, unlike their ads lead you to believe. Good luck Karl. Hope it all works out for you.

I ship 99% of my stuff through the PO, and 99% of it goes through without a problem. But, when they screw up, it hurts! I just recently lost a case through Paypal. Sent a member a crank. It showed up right on time to the address that was listed on Paypal (The only one he gave me) Only problem was, this guy didn't live at that address anymore...or even state or time zone for that matter. So, the crank gets turned around back to me...and then vanishes into thin air. poof! gone! Guy files a claim on me and wins. How, is beyond me.
Earlier this year, the great postal beast ate a steering wheel...which led to a "Whitepunkonnitro is a bad bad guy" thread...and then just yesterday I found that a 7 blade fan I shipped to NJ showed up bent...BENT! How much anger does one need to direct at a package in order to bend a freaking 7 blade fan!
BUT, on the bright side, I have figured every possible way to milk the Postal System to the max. I've shipped things in Flat Rate boxes ...crankshafts, manifolds, cylinder heads...stuff that just don't fit, I made fit in the most diabolical ways you could conceive. It's become a game with me...and so far, I'm winning.

Go to your local station and ask them for the number to wherever the local Nixie section is. If they look at you like you are on crack ask for the # to the local Processing and Distribution Center. This very well may be where the local Nixie section is. One of the Nixie clerks jobs is attempting to figure out undeliverable mail. If the box was ripped open and the contents were removed the local Nixie section may have it. Couple of questions....you did put a second shipping label loose in the box correct? This will often times get your package either you or it's destination. Next question......did you pack the box so there was absolutely 0 open air space in it? Pack it well enough so that you can sit on it? There is virtually no handling of packages by human hands anymore. Package makes it way thru the USPS via machinery.....it is sorted by a machine called the APPS machine. Your package may have been the first to fall into the hamper/west pack/postal pack/bmc. If this is the case a 70 pound package may have landed on it.....and if there was ANY open air space it got crushed....which started the process of it getting ripped open....But what the hell do I know...I only worked there for close to 20 years....
