Hi there, this is my very first message so I'll try to make a good impression.
My name is Fred, I'll be 60 in a couple of weeks, I live in the south-east part of France, 30 Mi from the french riviera shore. I am french (this is why my english/american is a little hesitant at times), currently working for a company that makes aircraft refueling components as a tech. manager. In almost 40 years, I had the opportunity to work in like 94 different countries, including USA, in a variety of industries like nuclear, postal equipments, microchips, aircraft refuelers. I'm a technician, passionate about mechanics, I ride a Harley too (nobody's perfect, huh?).
I had a 74 Dodge Charger 400/727/B5 "lucerne blue"/matching numbers back in the days. I bought her in 1996, raced her, and sold her in 2003: I couldn't then keep her in a safe place while I was working overseas, and she needed a better owner to go thru full restoration...
I need to dig deep in my computer to find some pictures of that era, that I'll try to post more.
<= me during a French Mopar Nats
For my 60th b-day, my wife told me to buy a Mopar cause she was tired of hearing me sigh. Well you know, when wife is speaking, man needs to obey, right?
So I found here in France a nice 70 Plymouth Duster with its original matching numbers 318/auto, painted in what seems to be somekind of vitamin C orange. It seems to be quite a basic car, no buckets, no AC, but 4 power drums, power steering, rallye wheels, period correct go-wing (not installed) and dual scoops (not installed). I plan to drive it home within a couple of weeks, I just can't wait !
That's how it is currently: I know the front side markers are not the correct ones for a 70, and maybe some other minor details?
My plan is to get rid of the rust issues (rear rails, floorpan), to give it a strong maintenance and to ride it "as-is" for a couple of years. I should retire in 3 years, this will be then my hobby and I'm planning to restore it from ground.
From what I know, there are very few Duster in France -someone told me less than maybe 10- I am surrounded by Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes and I wanted to stand out
.
I'm going now to have a walk in this forum, see you later!
