Freiburger's Duster for sale. NOT MINE

-
The roof rust alone kills it at $15k if anyone else is selling it.

But if you’re some YouTuber or influencer of some kind it would probably boost your views/revenue for a bit, it has some built in value that way. At least for a little bit.

It needs work but not much mechanical. $15 isn't a bad price. It's not a car you would want to restore but it is a cool hot rod and has the kudo's of being built by him. It'll sell.

That’s the biggest issue with it..not an easy nor cheap fix I’d imagine. If the average person asked that much for it, they probably would struggle to get half. That’s how it goes though.. the car itself is a small celeb among us mopar guys and that’s about it. No different than a famous guitar player selling off a cheap guitar that nobody cared about until said player used one on stage and decides to sell it.

Vinyl top damage? Damn, the body is dented but the floors and lower quarters are clean. Stuff you don't see up here in the rust belt.

Seen it in person, it’s rough but it’s the right kind of rough. Nothing too terrible. Mechanically it’s sound and has good parts. The engine has been ridden hard and put away wet (it’s the engine from the dirt track duster they got from Birdsong and beat to death on roadkill) so it’ll likely need a refresh. If anyone else was selling that car it would be a 8k car. The Freiburger tax is high on this one.

It's a Magnum. It can take the abuse.

Ask more, take less. Anyway I'm sure it's a well sorted and fine tuned car.
It has a junkyard motor that likely needs refreshing, nine inch front brakes, gauges don't work, door handles don't work, etc., etc. I've watched quite a few of his videos. His cars are not what I call well sorted. It's all fixable, but for 15K someone else can have it.

My '74 Duster I recently sold for 6k was a much better car inside and out. period. However, it didn't have a 4 speed nor was it that year. But no way would I have given my car and 9k for that. NO WAY!

Yeah but the floors have been replaced. Replaced is not the same as clean original floors.

Although there’s probably a video of Birdsong doing it at least.

Yeah exactly, it’s not mechanically good either. Rebuilt transmission but it’s got a bad throwout bearing? No concerns there! None of the gauges work?

A junkyard engine with no gauges? Yeah that’s a good idea. And why don’t they work? That could be a wire harness replacement not just bad gauges or senders. He can drive it like that because he’s got a team if he breaks down. Normal people are late for work when that stuff goes bad on their driver.

And yeah, 9” brakes, no working door handles, etc, etc. Sure it’s all fixable but you’d get nickel and dime’d to the tune of thousands just to fix the basic boring stuff to make it a real driver.

And since the inner roof and hardtop structure is visible through the roof, that’s structural replacement to fix the “vinyl top rust”.

It’s only worth it if you’re planning on getting some hashtag payback through something you’re already doing.

We currently own Steve Magnante's Hot Rod Project Duster.

It is a really clean nice car that run 10's thru the mufflers and 9' with
a small shot of Nitrous. It tied for the LVMS Track Championship last year.

We did NOT give Steve the money that is being asked for this Duster.

Just my .02 = For Free!

one of his last videos he mentioned selling it. i told janie that I'd love to have that car. I'd finish the interior upgrade the brakes and suspension to what we have on the dart and drive the hell out of it. I'd love to have a ratty car like that where the paint didn't matter and i could park it anywhere. then i saw the ad today pop up. what a **** box. i didn't realize it was as bad is it was. nothing works, roof and quarters have rust. god knows how well the floors were installed an the doors don't open with the outside handles. god knows what else is wrong.

15k is way too high im my opinion. someone will pay it though because of who is selling it.

Watching he and the other guys butcher together cars for the show seemed like something they did for the show, to keep with the Roadkill theme.
Apparently, that is how Freiberger really is.
I'm no purist but that mentality annoys me. I have a few ratty cars out back but every one of them has functional lights and gauges, Sure, only one has a working horn, two have working heaters, only one has A/C.
I see the junkyard fresh Wreck Runner that Dulcich has and when they have interior scenes, I see the cheapie 3 gauge pod hanging with zip ties, the OEM gauge cluster missing entirely and who knows what else.
Come on, man....
I can understand having no headliner, a cracked dash pad or sun visors but did any of their cars even have a full interior even if it was worn out? The "Disgustang" was sent off to a shop to repair body rust and to redo the interior, then the car was sold. The Crop Duster has nice paint. The 68 Charger "General Mayhem" has a gutted interior.....no side or rear glass, no door panels-headliner-carpet-wipers-stock gauges.

i highly doubt its fine tuned or well sorted out.
I agree.. watching Derek’s video on the 68 Dart he bought from David.. it wasn’t nearly as good as it came off as in the Roadkill episodes.. it lived up to the namesake of the show. Only real good aspect of it was that it was pretty free from major rust. TV magic indeed. Derek will get it right though. I really dig the paint job it sports now.
