hello everyone, i recently aquired a 72 340 duster missing drivetrain, it was at one time a drag car that has the rear half of the inner fenders gone for fenderwell headers, the forward half of the innerfender and core support are from a different car all together and done crudely,so... i was considering installing new inner fenders. i have since found a parts car that was in the middle of resto then abandoned, i believe it is a 73 or 74 scamp, i am now considering pulling the entire front subframe, inner fenders and core support off the car as one peice and putting it on the duster. aside from the spindles being different, does anyone know whether there is any difference from the 72 front stub? thanks in advance for your feedback

You probably can make it work but there will be some differences on the rad support for provisions to mount up your 72 grille/hood latch mounting panels and grille support brackets. Inner front fenders will also have some different provisions than the 72. Depending on the build date 73-74 it may have different mounting on the front of the frame rails to accept the absorber type of bumper mounts and the 72 front bumper brackets may not bolt up without modification

thanks.. going to take a bunch of pics before i start, also make some comparisons in the rad area and front bumper bracket areas, my bigger concern was where it welds to the floor in the foot floorboard area and whether that was the same.

It would be the same as your 72 car, same torsion bar crossmember, the rear section's of the frame's are the same as is the floorpan too. The front area's are different, as the previous poster said. Just check it out closely, and you will see some difference's. Good luck.

I would never remove good frame rails from a car just to swap them with some other ones.

I understand the repair you are trying to make but doing the repair in a way that minimizes intrusion onto the structure of the car is always better.

If you need new inner fenders, put new inner fenders in.

If you need a core support, put a core support in.

I agree. I did one inner fenderwell in my 67 Barracuda convertible. It's not too bad of a job. There are some tricks to salvaging the inners from the donor car.

I would consider swapiing both inner fenders and core support from a correct donor.
They aren't impossible to find.

took a bunch of pictures and looked close at the doner car today, the inners are nearly identical, the only differences i can see are the mounting areas for small accessories like hose and cable straps etc. going to just replace inners and core support.

I personally would just replace the inner aprons with new replacements from AMD. To me, it's not worth the time to remove old used donor sheet metal, if there are new replacements available. They don't cost that much. I would never change frame rails unless there rotted. Just my opinion though...

the AMD stuff is real nice, used it on my cuda, the donor car has a crap load of other parts i need and the whole parts car cost less than a pair of AMD inner fenders.
