ok. some time down the road i plan on putting a new hemi (5.7 0r 6.1) in my 64 dart convertible. the original gass tank mounts over the rearend housing up past the spare tire area. i dont want a fuel cell in the trunk. ive seen a few hemi swaps. most swappers get stainless steel tanks with the pump already inside the tank. question is, is it better to try and keep the new tank where the old tank was or should i have the spare tire area removed and put a fuel tank under the floor of the trunk in the area of the old spare tire? is it important to keep the new gas tank where the old one was. i was thinking that having the weight over the axles would be better then further back away from the axles. true or false? im looking at making my car a pro-touring kinda car without going too nuts. any help would be great.
