How important is it to have this metal line shaped the way it is? I replaced it with rubber hose, and now I'm not getting fuel to the carb. I'm assuming it has something to do with keeping fuel near the pump? I can't get the nut off to install the line onto the new pump, which is why I replaced it with the rubber hose. No idea. You might have crimped (bent) the line so sharp it crimped shut. Unhook the line from the filter, let it "relax" towards the ground and crank the starter briefly into an empty container.

There's gotta be something behind the engineering design of it, right? I'm going to a hydraulic repair shop that makes lines like it, see what happens. Car ran fine after replacing pump, let it sit for about a week and now it's dry.
