gas tank size on duster??

is it possible my 73 duster could have a 10 gallon gas tank? when I gas up the pump handle starts to shut off just before the 10 gal mark on the station pump, then my gauge reads full.other guys have told me no one makes a 10 gal tank and all repops or stock would be 16 gal. it appears to be pretty new and not stock, must be a 10 or is something messed up here? thanks

unless your gauge reads empty when you still have a few gallons in it I think they are 16.

I have seen other guys on here with the same problem. is always the same thing gauge reads empty and will take in about 10 more gallons and reads full. they put in new sending units and nothing happens better, I guess I can try either siphoning out whats in the tank when on E or keep a couple gallons in the trunk and keep driving on E till I run out, keeping track of how many miles I go before it dies out. this seems to be a common problem!
