finally getting to start on this build for the wife. some may remember a short while back a 70 duster project for sale/trade on the board here in louisiana. i made a trade with, and got to meet a wonderful couple (thanks again seth) and made the 14+ hour drive to pick up the duster. after getting the car home, surveying the parts count, gathering some ideas, and devising a plan, the car was disassembled the rest of the way, proper jigs to move the car on were fabricated and off to the blaster she went. i had the car blasted inside and out so i would have a clean canvas to start with.
just got the car back from soda blast on saturday morning, now i have some very minor rust repair to take care of (lower outer quarter sections, few small holes in spare tire well, alot of trim holes to weld up) and it will be time to do alot of prep and jam work, then off to my buddys body shop.
car was originally white with blue bench seat interior. will now be lemon twist yellow with black interior. and black side stripes.
car was originally 318/904/7 1/4 rear. no air, p/s,manual drum brakes.
about 3 weeks ago, i purchased a 90,*** mile, albeit wrecked, 91 2wd dakota. 318 TBI fuel injected, auto overdrive trans. i plan on using the engine/trans/computer/harness from the dak in the duster.
another good friend (you da man kitt!!!) hooked me up with an A-body 8 3/4 rear with big bolt pattern axles and i will be adding a 742 3.55 sure-grip hoghead. the plan is also for MP heavy duty torsion bars and leaf springs.
along with the car, PO had accquired a 73 k-frame with big bolt disc brakes, so those will be used as well.
so, anywho, here is a photobucket link of pics thus far. from the time she got home, to fresh back from the blaster. enjoy, and thanks for looking.....

almost 2 years to the day, here we are finally working on this 70 duster. the car sat idle in my garage while life, money, and other things took precedence. so, mhere we are as of taoday. the car has been at a buddy of mines body shop for about 3 months. AMD lower quarter sections and left trunk extension were only panel replacement needed. lots and lots of tiny hail dings (over 200 of them, doug counted, lol) and a multitude of small dents were hammer and dollied out. car is coming along great, nearing the end of this part of it's restoration. here is the photobucket link again from the time i got here till today, enjoy......http://s207.photobucket.com/user/superbyrd/library/sept2012robins70dusterbuild

Looks great! :prayer: You're braver than me......I would have been afraid to transport it on the casters like that. I'm sure it worked fine, but I'd have been a nervous wreck!

Very nice....

One of my all time favorite Duster colors.

Awesome start, the hard time consuming part { bodywork ) is out of the way.

That paint is awesome!
I know the feeling, ours just came home from paint.
Good luck putting her back together
