Going to a 2 wire field alternator

-
The one on the left is a isolated field regulator and the one on the right is a grounded field regulator.

Both look a bit worse for wear. BUT... Both might work still.

Get a photo of the rear of the one on the right.

When you said trunk I thought you meant it was mounted in the trunk.

I get it now loose parts in the

Here is the backside

? The older Ferd and GM 4 terminal look similar but are wired differently. I have no idea what that one there, is.
My bet is the "F" means field.
F is field
S is switched 12v from ign 1
A is unstitched 12v

If it was me I would return the VR they sent you and argue it is not designed for Chryslers , maybe they won't charge you shipping.

Then get a VR designed for a 69 Dodge dart.

The grounded field black one (right in your photo)

Side note. There are electronic versions of the grounded field VR and electromechanical ones.

The electromechanical ones have 2 to 3 long wire wound resisters on the bottom

This is an electronic version

This one as an adjustable NOS VERSION but the differences are there

So the used one you have is an electromechanical type. You can try it.

It has to be grounded to the body, no need to scrape paint just use a star lock washer under the screw it attaches to the fire wall with. The factory uses a clip with pointy tips that pierce into the paint.

Clean off the rust from the terminal.

Then wire as the wiring diagram shows.

It will either work or it will not.

or you can buy an electronic version of the black one with only two connections as well

i have never had a problem with this type

you can see the nicly soldered board in the second picture obviously they have a cover in real life he is just showing whats inside.. i.e modern

and if this guy in the UK is selling them he will have got them from the USA, that costs so he will have done his research nobody wants a shelf full of crap they can't sell when they are a one man business.
