I've read of how google leverages small pages to conform to their policies. They even have a clause in the form that you sign to receive revenue from their advertising that holds the page owner responsible for the acts of others outside of the confines of the page.

Say your readers discover that clicking on links in or out of your page causes more money to flow into the page coffers and they do that with no intent of buying those products, but simply to benefit your page. Google will deduct what ever they see fit if they think this is happening with or without your knowledge!

BBC.com had an article on this a while back. One page owner decided that their intrusiveness was not worth the price and scaled back the page after evicting google ads. Another simply shut down and google was trying to recover previous funds paid to that former owner.

I think that Orwell missed. It isn't just big gumberment that we should be wary of. It's big internet business' too! Don't get me started on Amazon...

I used to be (3-4 years ago?) able to find pretty much anything on Google photo search. Then one day I thought "whut?" and did some searching, and found people bitching, and even at whatever you call the Google forum / message board, they were admitting it, without really, ya know?

So I tried identical searches on a couple of other search engines, and WHAM More results.

Anybody who does NOT believe that Google is successfully applying "their politics" on the rest of us hasn't been paying attention

And.......of course there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. Even if it adversely affects your business.

I had a webpage that had google ads - then somebody started clicking on ads (not my doing) - so google canceled my ad account - I got an opportunity to appeal - not only was it unsuccessful, they refused to respond - I don't know what happened, why it happened, how to fix it, and, even if I fixed it, no more ad revenue...the funny thing is, they somehow knew the clicks were 'bogus', and were able to 'deduct' the 'bogus' clicks from what they supposedly owed me, but they couldn't just eliminate the bogus clicks and keep paying on the legitimate clicks (and, they never paid the outstanding balance from before they shut me off).

Oh yeah, if you add a link to 'if you like this product, you can buy it here at amazon.com', your page suddenly disappears from the google search results - take that link out, you're magically back on page 1.

google seems to have changed their motto of 'do no evil' to 'do no evil, unless someone is profiting under the rules we have set in place, in which case - screw them'

LMAO. Yahoo ain't any better, and I'm not that sure of Bing, either

YOU ARE AWARE?????????

That all the top execs of Microsheet including "Little Bill" and his darling wife all contributed heavily to the WA state anti gun measure now on the table? And our good buddy the former mayor of Neu Yawk City for good measure
