Hard starting 360.

Well its running better than ever as it is currently. When running it has about 7.5 volts at the coil. I have a 14awg jumper from the ECU case to the battery -. The ECU I am using is a parts store special with almost no miles on it but since it likely hails from the Peoples Republic, I have no faith in it. It has a chromeish looking case so there is no paint or anything to be in the way of a good ground. Maybe I'll sand the area below the ground terminal in case there is some clear coat or something.

What is the best option for an ECU box out there? MP Orange? MP Chrome? Others?

As I recall, the chrome is not for street, due to overheating?
The Orange is the go-to box, but the scuttlebutt here is that the current crop available is not that reliable; so buy a spare.....IIRC the Orange is good to 6000rpm. My 1999 model went 7000 ok. The new stuff,IDK.

The grounding on those is probably better on the top surface under the bolthead, and through the threads of the weldnuts, and into the sheetmetal. But I always sand both the painted apron and both sides of the ECU mounting flange, and then put an anti-rust agent on everything. I've never had a grounding issue using this method.
But if you do not have weldnuts, then a good alternative is to put a nut and star-washer on the backside. Or any combination of these.

Yeah, Mine doesn't have weld nuts but I bolted them through with 1/4" bolts. Since it's working for now I will leave it but over the winter I think I'll figure out an HEI solution hopefully on the cheap. Thanks to all who helped me in this!
