Forgive my ignorance, but why do some harmonic balancers have holes in them...and some have more holes than others..? Is it for "balancing"..?
Say I need to change it, and the one on the engine has one hole, but a spare one I have around has 4 holes...are they interchangeable..? One is a 71 318, the other is off a 73 318.

Thanks..!
John

I've asked a lot of dumb questions on here, and no matter the question, I usually can count on a lot of input... but not one answer on this...? Hmmm... maybe not a dumb question.

They should be neutrally balanced (by themself). I always send one in when I'm having the rotating assembly balanced.

In theory you should be able to just swap them out.
