Have you actually ever BROKEN a torsion bar?

they are left and right specific, but ive never paid attention to which end went in the LCA. never had a failure.

if you flip it around you have effectively put it on the other side (opposite twist)

No sir. When you flip the bar around you are still twisting it the same direction. I used to think the same as you until I took a look at it.

Had one break on a '73 Satellite, but it looked like a replacement.

Never. The only one I ever sawed through was tough as nails,and unless I'm desperate,I wont try it again,lol. Was a lot of work! I got about 90% cut through before it snapped the rest of the way.
