i am looking to build a 340. building it, i assume will take some time but i kind of want this maybe as a novelty or drop it in a Plymouth duster. what i want is a 340 stroked out, super charged (or twin turbo), with a 6 pack with the occisonal spray of n20.

1. what problems do u see?
2. expected HP
3. Cost
4. 1/4 mile time ?
5. life expentacy
6. modifications to a A833

There was a thread a week or 2 ago about the same thing for a 360. Do a search for that as it had a lot of comments and info. Then ask more detailed questions from there.

"Novelty" That's the word of the day for this thread.:D Hopefully that doesn't apply to your bank account also.....I'm seriously not trying to be mean here devon, but you really need to narrow your focus a bit, at least for the beginning of a "real" engine build. Sounds almost like a street freak build for a magazine or show car. Might be cool to do, but you'll have more coin in fab work then in hard engine parts.

Hmm...stroked...blown or twin scrolled, and with occasional chemical intercooling via giggle gas-through three carbs...Sounds like an expensive tuning disaster waiting to happen... ;) have fun, empty your account...we'll watch.

Seriously, if you want to run a twin turbod stroker, you might want to look into getting a better block...

1, lots of problems, runibility, tuning, reliability, professional built engine
2, prob lots???,
3.some where around 10,000.??
4depends on chassis
5prob very short??
6 replace with jerico trans

I'll defer from my post #3 and try to give you a somewhat positive response.....

Have Hogan or Wilson build you a sheet metal intake that will use (6) 2bbl's modified for a blow thru application and is plumbed for a fogger system. Use a custom built hat and feed it with twin turbo's or a big centrifugal blower.

You're gonna need a aftermarket block and some serious internals if you want it to live, but hey, a build like this is in wild territory to begin with.

1. what problems do u see? Block, intake & exhaust manifolding, trying to use carbs for this, fuel system, clutch & transmission, cost.
2. expected HP Anywhere from 500 to 2000.
3. Cost Starting with that goal, and no parts or experience - $45K.
4. 1/4 mile time ? Anywhere from 16s to 6s depending on the, chassis, your driving, and the success of the build.
5. life expentacy Show circuit - as long as you want. Racing - anywhere from one race to forever depending on the same things listed on #4.
6. modifications to a A833 Start with a Jerico and work from there.

Honestly, I would inject it, use twin turbos, and have the NO2 tied into in. You will want a good controll of everything or you'll be chasing your tail more than enjoying it. You will also need a complete fuel system redesign, and intercooler, some custom exhaust manifolds, and probably a custom made intake. The factory 6bbl intake is a choke point in and of itself.

I agree with everyone here Devon....I myself, would seriously look into a better block, or well, a BIGGER CID to put a turbo or even blower onto it if its HP you want, its more CID you need. and with larger CID, comes better chances of wehat your trying to achieve with less.

In this case more IS better......You'd almost be better off with a generation 3 Hemi, small, but economical to use in this one as the 5.7 or even the 6.1 would be simpler to do what your trying and FIT in the space of the said 340 you had planned with in the first place. WITH less dollars spent.....

A833 tranny, new or used? Say, $1,000 used, $3,000 new (somewhere there abouts)

Again, the tranny would need built as well, to handle the torque of the super charger/blower turbo (whatever you want to call it) but that stresses the motor a bit, and that all leads into the tranny. Built it last longer, as either or a show car, OR track car.

As for the set up, AGAIN, go with something more beefy then the 340, it will last longer, and NOT kill your wallet. As you watch it........AGE!
