Hayden 2947 and 2747

Need to know which is more correct fan clutch for my 70 340 duster born with non ac option greatly big thanks for feedback on this subject.

I don't think that Hayden made fan clutches for Ma Mopar so nothing they make is "correct".
The 2947 is the stubby one that you need if you have a 3 core radiator.

Well most are correct 340s radiator, scroud factory stuff all those were missing a lot of parts and found and now return back to the car now and yes it has 3 core .

Your definition of correct may differ from what others think of the word.
In classic car terms, correct means a component or procedure that matches the original in every way.
Part numbers stamped or embossed, proper color and finish, proper fit and function.
Original fan clutches had mounting holes. Haydens have slots.

The 2747 is the tall one on the left.

Above you can see the slotted mounts on both. NO OEM fan clutch was like this.

I see I have one the one is tall which isnt fit it way too close to the radiator so now I can see one is short maybe corrected the issue that I have.

Hard to see the clutch inside a radiator shroud with 5+ blade wide fin fan.

My understanding has always been:
2947 for a-bodies
2747 for a-bodies and up

I have the 2947 in a bb a-body, 18" Derale fan, factory radiator.

Mine is all stock I figure that 2947 could be the answer I was looking for.

They are fun to install, be flexible and open minded, you will get it. I kinda have to re-learn it every time I install one.

If you hold your tongue right it goes right on. I have the 2947 shorty on a 73 340 Duster and a thick radiator. ECP makes a two core but they’re bigger tubes. I can fit my fingers (not hand) between the radiator and fan clutch.

I was wondering the same question as the OP, I have a stock 3 core radiator with shroud and a 340.
I didnt know which Hayden to order, I guess after reading this thread im going to order the "stubby" one.
I thinks im ordering from Rockauto seems much cheaper than other sites...

I have the #2947 on three cars, one is a stock 318 and radiator. Just make sure that you remove the radiator when you do it!

2947 That's the unit that was required on both my '64 Barracuda and my '67 Dart. Both small block cars.
