Filming has started for a new HBO show called "Duster". According to someone who had a couple of cars used in the filming this weekend, the show stars Josh Holloway and a 1971 Duster.

Thanks, I haven't heard about it until now. I'll definitely be checking it out. How bad could it be? It's got a duster in it and it's set in the 70's !!! ( lots of old iron).

How bad could it be? Depending on how many Dusters get trashed in production, pretty damn bad.

I can see the price of Dusters going up if this show is a success...

If it means that more of the remaining Dusters are loved and preserved, that’s ok with me. For anyone who is looking for their first, let me show you this nice Ford Maverick.

I had a young person approach me at a Cars and Coffee Saturday and he actually knew that my car was a Duster!

Watched the first episode yesterday, wasn't too bad actually. Nice seeing the older cars and trucks in the scenes. They did roll an AMX, or at least something that resembled one. I did notice 3 distinctly different sets of front bucket seats, and an old school 8 track player under the dash, but no speakers visible in the rear package tray. I'm guessing that the 'hero' car is a 4 speed, and the stunt cars are automatic.

You're right:

The picture car Coordinator of the show, Ted Moser was interviewed for it and here's what he said;

"One Duster was used as what’s called the “hero car,” a picture-ready vehicle beautiful enough, inside and out, to be shot in close-up. The other three were stunt cars, retooled with automatic transmissions and designed to accommodate camera placements."
