Cast iron??? If so and if you have room on the inside (pushrod side) I like splash zone epoxy. Seal it with two coats of these on the inside available at Walmart I keep a spare can and brush on nearby

I have one just like that on my Edelbrock heads that I’m going to weld up with my mig welder this week. It will take me longer to switch my welder over than it will to fix it but I have a couple other jobs that need done while it’s switched over. Honestly I wouldn’t be afraid to epoxy that on the pushrod side and coat it. Being I have other work to do I’ll weld mine.
 
I wish I was better with my Tig welder but I’m not. Hopefully after my son is trained in the shop he’s working now he can fix me up.
 
I was thinking of getting it tiged but was concerned that they may blow a bigger hole in it then have even more fun. Will epoxy take the oil running over it?

absolutely. Scratch, rough it up some and clean is as much as possible with an oil free cleaner. I like to seal it and do so every time I have the head off. I don’t know if you ever say my epoxy test but if you want to let me know and I will try to find the link.

I had a new package of belzona at work that I used last year when I broke through clearancing the push rod holes. It's held up so far, and it's damn near invincible when we use it at work. Devcon is also super tough.
 
What’s nice about welding is after you brush it with a stainless wire brush and clean it it honestly doesn’t take a “pretty weld”. Goonie it up heavier than needed and make it look pretty with a carbide burr. Nothing fancy.
 
As a welder for 25 years-
Tig is best. And if posssible cut a piece of brass or bronze and put it behind the hole. If it is a push rod passage then round stock - Use a non Ferris metal- even copper will work. Allows electricity to pass thru but the weld will not stick and it fills the hole till it’s got weld thick enough to work with.

JB weld a piece of thin shim stock to the PR side.
Add some JB smeared on top of that.

After that cures, smear a layer in the port.

This is only if you’re going to use fuels without alcohol.
 
Belzona is the best epoxy out there but it’s very expensive. Darrin Morgan really liked sealed Splashzone so I started using it and really like it. I threw my Morosso AB epoxy away.

One thing I really like about it is you can sprinkle a little water on it and smooth it out with your finger like PlayDoo. I throw on a harbor freight thin rubber glove and dip my finger in water and smooth and shape away.
 
Aluminum. You can use copper or brass but that wouldn’t be consumable. Ive done it both ways and they both work.
Oh I see what you mean, I was thinking of welding a build up of materials, I hate to think of all the bs contaminants coming out welding in a intake port....just from my own attempts on the outside of a used intake manifold

Yeah, the 1st time I used it I was amazed @ the ease of shaping & it is durable...great shtuff

110 or 112. May mix with pump premium. It will be 11-1 compression. Timing locked at whatever it likes. Kim
