Header diameter and collector suggestions

I run a 1 7/8 tube on my 374 and i think they work great! i do have the Pipe Max program, but i did have it when i put my headers on.

i walked over and talked to you a few times. i was wearing a Reid Holland Motorsports crew shirt.
Small world, I remember you now. You may have helped us get the car in the ramp too. That was a great divisional, I realized there is a lot to learn. Broke the cylinder out of No. 6 on the last pass. I'm going to put a 340 in the car and finish the summer then build the headers for the 414.

For what it's worth (not much) I had 2" headers on a roller motor 406. Car wasn't particularly fast, but I don't think the too-big headers slowed it down much, if at all. (2" into 3 1/2 collector, about 25" primary if I remember right, custom under chassis, never run without a 3 1/2 muffler system.

If you were running La head configuration, who made the flanges? Or did you construct some adapter plates like a Chevrolet sprint car header, opening up the bolt pattern for 2" primary.

I made some adapter plates with an included angle (10 degrees? Don't recall esactly) and used the Stahl Chevy pattern flanges.
I wouldn't do it again, I think it might have run harder, (maybe a little, not much) with a 1 7/8 header. I have 2" hookers and 2"custom on my big block cars. (I have a ridiculously large big block mopar set, custom built, for an A-body big block too. 2 1/4 x 4 x 34? Semi-fenderwell)
They might work great on a 572.

Nice daytona! I'd guess you're going to want to be in the 28-32" range with a 3" collector but a 3.5" merge will work But again, that's a GUESS! Get pipemax and enter your info and let that spec your combo. I always try to build a header 'in the middle' of what I have meaning, they'd work decent on both more and less power combos. Try to use gentle radius and avoid S bends. Try to get them close but, I wouldn't sweat different lengths. Locate the primary in the collectors respective of the firing order. I use vacuum cleaner hose to conceptualize the design.

Thanks for the information. Stahl's pricing seems reasonable. I will reach out to them on Monday.
