Headers and end bolts into head

Just curious, you guys running headers on small blocks; what are you doing to seal up the 2 end bolts that go into the waterjacket???

sealant on bolts? or did you keep studs in the ends? If so, did you modify the headers to keep the studs?

Kept my studs and have no problem installing my headers (Spitfires in 65 Cuda). Haven't needed to modify the flanges. You can use bolts just use a high temp sealant on the bolt threads to ensure no leakage.

I kept the studs. Actually made it easier to put the headers on as the studs held the gasket and lined the headers right up so there was no need for the up-a-little, down-a-little game...

I put teflon paste pipe sealer on mine. No leaks.
