hey fellow A bodiers.
i've started my 68 barracuda rebuild. p/u my rebuilt 727 w 2400 stall and 8 3/4 rebuilt w 3.55 sg yesterday. what a great day. my ? is i plan on installing a 408 stroker and was thinking about installing hooker long tube headers w 1 7/8 dia. is this a good choice or does anyone have a better option that is less expensive. thanks for any advice

The best fitting headers for A-Bodies are Doug's and/or TTi. They're more expensive (Dougs cheapern then TTi) but you get what you pay for.

I have hooker headers and they did drag when I pulled in the garage before the rebuild, but after changing from a 318 to a 340 when I pulled out and back in they didn't drag. Why I don't know everything was the same even air in the tires. If your willing to deal with the hassle of hookers summit and holleys website sales cheaper versions BUT if you want easy Doug's and tti's are simpler but cost ALOT more.

if you can afford the 408 then do the tti you wont regret it, I went the cheap way and now have to re do it.

500hp? 1 7/8" are a waste of money and unnecessary other than saying you have them.
