Hello, my name is Swen, I am 54 years old, married, work as my own boss in the IT industry and come from Germany.
(67806 Teschenmoschel, about 30km from Kaiserslautern / Ramstein)
I have been driving a 1972 Dodge Dart for a few years now, but I have been driving US cars for almost 30 years.
I am happy to have a forum for A-Bodys.
My planned next project I would like to replace my 904 automatic transmission on my '72 Dart (modified 360cui, 300HP +/-)
with an A833 4-speed manual transmission (or something comparable) - I'll probably need some help here :)
Greetings

Beautiful dart!
I love that led dash. Did you build it yourself? I bet plenty of guys would like one.

Anyways, welcome from Northern California.

Well, hello from California USA.
Spent two years in Germany during my Air Force tour of duty at the Zweibrucken Air Base, 1974-76.
Aircraft mechanic, flight line crew chief, on the RF-4C Phantoms.
I'm familiar with the Ramstein, Kaiserslautern, areas as the military had a big presence there, also.
So, your blasting down the Autobahn?
Nice ride.

Me.

Welcome from West Virginia! Great Dart, I love it!

I lived in Kaiserslautern in 1981 and in Germany until 1987, then back in 1991-1994 to Hanau and I loved it!

Welcome from Utah! I used to b live in. Heilbronn for 3 years. I miss Germany! Very cool 72 Dart! I used to have a 440 72 Dart myself.
Bis Spater!

@all Thanks for the Welcome :)

@Ottmundr - No, I didn't do it myself, I bought it - Nordskog Performance Products -> DP10001 UNIVERSAL 5 GAUGE DIGITAL PANEL, but I think the company doesn't exist anymore

@hemi71x - Yes, parts of the German Autobahn still have no speed limit, that's one of the few freedoms we still have - just drive as fast as you want and can

Welcome from Kansas. I am a retired Air Force Officer. I was stationed at Rhein Main Air Base just south of Frankfurt from 1981-1984. Germany was the best assignment we ever had. Germany is beautiful, and the German people were so friendly. We loved Germany.
VERY nice car.

Welcome! Beautiful car!

Welcome Sweet dart I love the black and the 68 side marker lights. As others I spent some time in Germany in the military and loved it. I lived in Geissen 2003-07 but have been to Ktown and flown out of Ramstein a few times to the sand box. Thanks for sharing you'll love your dart more with an A833 but heck why not a TKX, save alittle on the petrol.

Hi, the A833 was the first thing that came to mind, but after doing some research online, there are better alternatives, such as the TKX Five Speed. The problem is that nobody sells it here in Germany, so the costs for transport + tax + customs will have to be added. You can get a used A833 in Germany for around 1500-2000 EUR - but only the gearbox. I would prefer to buy a complete kit.

That's understandable. Forget how lucky we can be here in USA have all the parts readily available. You could get creative and use a getrag 5 spd. Best of luck.

My favorite would be to find a scrap-ready A-Body with a manual transmission to strip for parts - but that would be like winning the lottery here in Germany, as there are no such vehicles here. OK, the project is still in the planning stage and there's still time, so I'll have to see what the costs will be.

Welcome

Looks like you are well on your way already.

I like the looks of that one from the front.

I also like automatics over the 4 speed manual trans.
