I lowered the rear seatback on the 67 parts car fish (has a really good interir which is why I bought it) and the seat is latched down and won't unlatch. The lever moves smoothly, the rod at the latch rotates. I even put crescent wrenches on both sides of the seat back to help give the rod more travel than the lever would allow thinking it may have slipped of something and no luck. #-o

What is the trick to get the seatback unlatched so I can put it back upright?

It's really cool how much flat space can be had when the FB fish has the rear stuff lowered flat. I can imagine what used to get done back there back in the day! :love5:

OK, looking further into this I found the latches that hold the seat in place, one on each side. problem is there is nothing to interact between these latches and the rectangular shaft that is turned when the handle lever is moved. It looks like there should be cams on the rectangular shaft, but I have none. Looking at the old ratty seat that came with another car (the 68 race car) it also has no cams. So how do the latches get actuated???

Man that upper part of the rear seat is heavy! No wonder it got took out of the drag car. I am gonna hate putting one back in. At least I think I have found some metal to use to fix the rusted trunk extensions in that old ratty upper rear seat.

Bump. Took out the rear seat yesterday. Couldn't have that darn mouse eating all the padding. Did see a pretty good spot for the "cams?" to fall into though. Is this what happened to my "cams?" perhaps?

Anybody have a pic of the side of a 67/68 rear seat hinge/latch which has all the parts? Interesting that the 67 has a cast aluminum side hinge while the 68 is a weldment.
