hello there, have fitted a 440 in my barracuda, be nice to know what the motor started life in spec, know its a 65, this rare? any info appreciated, regards, nathan. 25364303 9 2 65

The engine is a 1966 440 engine. Engine block was casted September 2, 1965. Good luck.

hello there, many thanks for that, i figured it a 65, its goin g into paintshop tomorrow then when time and money allow an engine makeover as its low comp slug lol

Yup, it should have B440 stamped into the upper front pad. '66 was the first model year for the 440 and only came in a C-body.

Sure, build it the way you want. I would upgrade those 516 heads though. Either have them worked over or get some aluminum ones. Stock, the 516's are a bit restrictive but if you put in larger valves and hard seats and do some porting work, they work nicely.
