this picture was taken in 1954 and that is my mom driving,
she would have been about 18

she does not remember what kind of car it was and said they didn't keep it long because it wasn't a very good car

I had never seen the picture while dad was alive. I know he would have remembered

EDIT: On second glance, the steering wheel looks like a Mercury, but it's got the speedometer, radio, and clock from the Ford.

I don't know what it is, but you would think that the round gauge/clock above the radio would be a good feature to look for to find out what it was.

I saw an old 49 Hudson at a car show a week ago and the dash was very unique. The gauges were in the center of the dash, and a glove box on both sides...

My guess was a 52 or 53 Ford and now I know that is close enough

Yeah "C" think it is a cool shot and I'm sure dad was either standing in the back or sitting on top of the rear seat, way before my time, LOL he sure was brave to take that shot, but mom really was a good driver.

The steering wheel looks the same in the olds and pic with mom. Radio also looks the same.

The radio in the ford is down lower than the picture also

That is it because the area around the clock is shaped different than the 1952. The radio area is shaped correctly and the radio looks correct. Trim on the lower dash is the same.

Yeah, I would say Oldsmobile now, too. Looks like the 51 you found, and also looks a lot like this 50. Really hard to say just by the pictures.
