HELP no run lights or brake

am having a light wiring d'lahma- am trying to get run and brake lights back into what was a previously good working car -- body man took out the dash cluster 4 paint -- if i join / short the ammeter wires the car will start and run even when ammeter wires are disconnected from each other ,, i have power to the fuse box with all fuses good-both sides - when they are hooked together but no brake or run lites - no signal lights is understandable with dash cluster out - - cluster is completely out with switches / wiring left untouched other than being disconnected from the cluster - ground wire on the rad support is connected - is it something simple as missing a ground somewhere off the dash ??- or - do ALL the run lamps sockets front and back need B hooked up with/ or without the dash installed - one suggestion here was-- the lighting system only works IF everything is wired / installed up front and back - any help / suggestions out there to get some running / brake lights to drive without the cluster installed ?? could really use some good helpfull suggestions here and wood be appreciated -- thanks cudanutz

Running and brake lights out? Check the taillight harness connector under the left kick panel. Also check the turn signal switch connector. Brake light runs thru the switch. Make sure there is constant power at on side of your brake light switch.

yabba dabba -- doo-- werk at the back now -- left the alternator wires connected and have signals - brakes and run lites - like magic - dunno how dum i was / can b - - so on 2 the headlite / park lites and then itz a "T-O-P " for the furst sunny day drive - hell with the carpet / interior - way 2 cold 4 my fingers today - thanks for your help and listnin - cudanutz -
