1966 dart 273 2v tried it all electronic distributer, electronic ignition, and voltage regulator, alternator 78amp..was the biggest in stock, 2 new batteries, cleaned all grounds and the bulk head. bypassed gauge voltage starts at 13.5 and drops to 12.5ish in less than one minute ..any other ideas... when put in drive, kills itself. all help is appreciated

Grounding, somewhere. Start by unhooking all wires, except. alt, read voltage at battery, and keep hooking up wires, reading voltage.

You may have a bad connection in the dash at the Ammeter gauge. I had the same issue with my Duster and finally found the culprit. I still have not replaced the gauge as of yet (Broken Post on gauge) but you can do what I ended up doing in until I can locate another gauge. try this, run a wire from your battery post wire on the alternator to the positive post on your battery and connect these connections together. I did this on my Duster and I am now charging at 13.5 volts constant. .you will bypass the guage and if you do not have any other breaks in the wiring you should start charging. You do not need to alter the field wires in any way. Leave them connected. If I remove this wire, I will not charge and I will run my battery dead in no time. Be sure to use a properly gauge wire to do this. I used a heavy gauge solenoid wire off of another wiring harness I had. it worked fine. I am running the Blue Race Voltage Regulator.

I've already bypassed it
