i ordered a weighted converter from summit for my 73- 360-904, thay sent unweighted converter, now they say a week before i can get it, i need it now, has anybody heard of the flex plate they offered to make up weight difference part number bmm 10239. please help. thank you

B&M makes one, part number in my Summit catalog is: BMM-10239 360 external balance with 904 tranny, 1971-1992, price is $76.95. You could get it overnight from them if you need it. Keith.

b&m makes a flexplate for you.

for a 727 its #10236

for a 904 its #10239

OR you can take your TC to a local tranny shop and have the weight put on.

OR you could wait a week, but apparently that is not an option.

good luck.

>edit< oops keith beat me to the punch!

thanks guys just got a little stressed out, thinking i am about to wake up the beast with a fresh rebuilt 360 and 8.75 and was like being hit in head with hammer. thanks

The flex plate is the best way to go. It works great and best thing is you can swap out the converter at any time if you want. I run one on my 360.

Tell summit that since they screwed up that you want them to cut you a deal on it and overnight it for free. Lets see if they step up to the plate like a good company would when they screw something up.

This sounds typical....Summit sends the wrong part then says the right one is backordered and you'll have it in a week......this is why I buy from Jegs. Summit has no clue what a Mopar is or could care less. This problem will get worse and worse with them. They are now offering parts like Autozone sells and they have the same service and tech advice.

I've also been using the B&M flexplate hooked up to a unweighted converter(904/360) with no issues going on just over a year of use. In comparison to the old flex plate it probably has twice the amount of metal, at least it seems to imo.

DusterB is right about Summit not knowing anything about a Mopar. But that's typical with many places like this. Unless it's a Mopar specific part supply that's usually the case. I have to say Summit has never screwed up an order of mine (and I've ordered several times from them) but maybe that's because I allways look it up and give them the part number. I've only ordered from Jeg's once a few yrs. ago. Can't say the person I talked to there knew much about Mopar's either.

I think the worst place I ever talked to was PAW. I called them about parts to rebuild a 340. Not only could the guy barely speak English but when I told him I was rebuilding a 340 he asked me about 3 times what size engine it was then finally said "that's one I never heard of". What a weenie!!

I have really never had a problem with summit either till now. I purchase a sent af hoosier slicks. Both arrived at the same time, but one had a razor cut in the sidewall. So I called them and they sent one right out but when this one arrived it too was cut in the same way. So I called again and they agreed to send another. And that is where I'm now waiting for the third tire to show up.

But what really pissed me off :cussing: was when I called about the second exchange they said they would try one more time only. I told the guy bull@#it, you will need to try as many time as it takes. One good slick doesn't do me any good. You guys are the one sending out the defective product, but he didn't seem to care. It all fell on deaf ears. I guess we will see what happens when the new replacement shows up.

Man that is a crappy attitude he had. Sounds like to me they need some guys in the warehouse that know razor knifes don't mix good with tires. How stupid are they??? Hopefully your next one is good. If they give you too much crap and you paid them by credit card call your card company and have the charges taken back. That will get their attention real fast!!! I had to do that once with a place that sent me a junk oil pan cause they refused to give me a credit.
