Help with 413 Build please

Love the 413's as well. I have a 65 413 complete out of an Imperial. Not sure what I am going to do with it, but holds a lot of mystique for me.

I was a 16 year old kid working at a "service station" and an older guy who worked at the local Ingersoll Rand took the Saturday all night shift at the station to pick up some extra cash. He had a black on black, 2 door post, 4 spd, 413, dual-quad, solid lifter Dodge Dart. I will never forget that car and the sound of the exhaust, the solid lifters and the lope of the cam. No doubt why I bought my 413 when it became available.
 
I was told the blocks were thick as hell. this was because they were built for use in bread trucks and such.

I had a 426 wedge bored .070 back in the day to take stock 440 pistons. The machinest said the same thing, block was plenty thick. I built it, dropped it in a '67 Barracuda. That thing kept breaking u-joints. Nastiest car I ever owned!
 

The Venerable Golden Lion, which is what my 413 says on the valve covers. I also have a video clip of a 62 Plymouth Max Wedge clone a friend built for a customer. If I can find it, I will post it.
BTW, cool cars always put a smile on my grandson's face.

First off, I hope everyone has had a great holiday, and I wish everyone the best in the new year. Now onto my problem..... I have a 413 RB block that I want to build for my 63 dart. It is a 63 block with high nickel content, and I got for next to nothing, along with heads which are complete. So after doing a little research I've found that getting pistons for the a 413 isn't easy. There are a few companies making some low compression OEM's which I don't want. Some of you out there may be saying, just pick up a 440 it's easier. I agree with that, but I don't have one of those yet, so I'm stuck with the 413. I've done a little research and found that both the 426 RB and the 383 B blocks share the same Piston bore (4.25). My question is, has anyone out there considered boring a 4.13 block from it's 4.187 bore to the 4.25 bore of a 383/426 blocks? I think this is somewhere in the area is about .060 over, which I think is pushing it, yet doable. If I went this route, I believe I'll have a great selection of pistons and compression ratio's available to me. Lastly, is this idea totally far fetched, as I plan on running a 4.15" crank in this engine as well?
Dude, I have owned mopar my entire life.I see all the nonsense people who don't know what they are talking about. A 383 or 400 block with this or that crank is absolutely rubbish! The 413 is absolutely fantastic! Yes you will need custom pistons but that's OK. The 413 has a smaller bore, aka less rottating mass for the rod angle with great piston speed capabilities. I like the 4.25 stroker crank.this would create an absolute wicked vacume signal creating lots of torque to cubic inch ratio. I have a 413 ready to hit the machine shop! I'm cramming it full of billet stroker crank & indy cylinder heads with a fuel injection 6 pack, yes 3 2 barrel throttle bodies lol. The 413 will rev ultra fast creating velocity in the intake stroke with the multiple throttle bodies. Any factory cylinder heads in this day & age are garbage! The cost of rebuild & repair are not worth the money. Aftermarket aluminum heads are the only way to go. Yes I know all the cheap people on these sites try to talk factory junk up but that is just talk. I guarantee you will be very impressed with a 413 stroker! Sure the 7.2L have more displacement, however the 413 has some unique characteristics that makes it superior in some aspects. Good luck with the 413 bud, it will be awesome. Don't listen to these bench racers, they build things in their imagination not in mopars.
 
A 413 rb block / forged crank is exactly what I am putting togather for my 68 Dart GT. Kitlers Machine Shreveport La. machining the block .070, custom 426 forged pistons from Diamond Pistons. 800 Holley Speed Demon resting on top of Edelbrock RPM manifold. 10 - 10.5 compression , forged rods , Kitlers balancing rotating assembly , Lunati Voodoo cam 513/533 lift 286 duration. Diff 8.75 w/ 4.10 489 case suregrip ,727 auto tranny. I have spoken with several mopar frantics , no problem with building a 413. 440 are some what easy to fine in Louisiana, just unwilling to shellout the 900 - 1100 $ for a junk yard fine. Remember there is a reason they are in a junk yard.
Absolutely awesome! Love a different build like 413. I'm a huge fan of stroker cranks because of the vacume signal it creates with that massive deck height of the mopar rb. A 700 lift cam that has wicked vacume that transitions into monstrous torque. Ugh I get a little excited about building a mopar. I hope you are using a converter in that torque converter in the 727. The holly hp series carb is much superior, a fast xfi system would be really awesome. This is an awesome mopar bud, you will be very happy with the results.
