I need help finding the correct hardware for two applications. Pictures of the items I need are attached.

1. My transmission mount cross piece was missing one bolt and nut assembly. I’d like to go back with the correct hardware. If anyone knows of a source or has parts they would like to sell, please let me know.

2. The upper end of my transmission kick down lever appears to be set up for a ball like the one on the lower end that I have shown in a picture below. However, the end it attaches to on the carburetor is a small shaft with a groove that I would normally associate with a spring. Is this correct? If not, where can I get the correct part?

Thanks for your help.

Let me check tomorrow.

what are you working on?

the rod looks pre 67

the carb post looks 67 up

Sorry, I meant to post that. It is a 65 Dart with the 235hp engine and a cable-shift 904 transmission.

The carb is the original-type Carter AVS with the correct number on the base. The car is reasonably unmolested, but, like most cars of its’ age that haven’t been restored, it has some incorrect parts “creep” that I’m trying to correct with the right hardware.

that would've come with an AFB...

do you have this type of linkage on the engine?

AV-1 and AV-2 are Valliant / barracuda but dart SHOULD be the same

That’s illustration is very similar to Fig 30 from the 65 Dart FSM. I’ve attached some more pictures that I hope will show what I have better. Again, my question on the throttle linkage is whether or not there should be a ball on the end of the throttle shaft instead of a grooved pin. Thanks.

I probably have a set of 4 transmission crossmember hardware

It appears you should have a ball stud on the carb throttle arm. I might have one

I’ll take a look tomorrow

sure looks like it.

In 67 up they changed it to have a slip joint that fit on a post like you have on your carb.

Look at post 12 ( might be 66 vs 65 but I think it shows what your looking for.

I took a look for a short while yesterday but it was cold as blue blazes in my storage. I’ll take another look today

Pretty sure I have an extra crossmember bolt if still needed.
Let me know

In my opinion for carb linkage all you need is a threaded end for horizontal shaft(ref#12) in post #12 above. You don't need the entire shaft, just the threaded end. If I wade thru snow to the shop I'll post a pic of our 67 setup.

You really should post a want ad.
Thanks, You get it.

I wasn't around on Monday and didn't notice this thread until it went too far. It should be a Parts Wanted thread. Because so many people have responded I won't delete it but just remember, if you are looking/asking for parts, start a parts wanted ad.

Thanks to everyone who responded to this post. I found a source online (Amazon) for the ball end that I think goes on my carburetor. When I receive the part I will post a picture of the installation if it works. Also, I found a bolt from my parts car that is close enough to what I need for the crossmember that I can use it.

My apologies to TMM. The original intent of this post was to see if I had the correct parts on my carburetor, and, if not, a supplier for the hardware. That was also the intent of my post for the nut and bolt combo. I did not intent to make a “Parts wanted” but a “source wanted” post, so again, my apologies if anyone construed it as a solicitation for purchasing parts from a site member. I should have broken this up into two posts, but was trying not to litter the site unnecessarily with an extra posting.

Thanks to Dana67Dart for the extra effort and FSM diagrams. It was very helpful.

A generic ball stud might not work because you wouldn’t have anything to hook your throttle cable to. You might be able to use a rod end if you can find one in long enough and in the correct thread pitch. It would also need to be narrow enough to pull put a clip on the end of the throttle stud.

OK, I'll make this pitch again... there is a reason that Chrysler went to the rod with a slot. If something hangs up your kickdown linkage or hangs up the kickdown mechanism in your trans, say when you are at wide open throttle, when you let off the gas the ball stud kickdown will hold your carb wide open. I can only assume this happened enough times in the 60s to prompt Chrysler to invest the money in a redesign that is more expensive to make.

I bet you always wondered what that slot in the linkage was for...

If I had the earlier design you can bet your butt that I would convert to a newer system or fabricate a carb end rod to use the slot system.

I understand and appreciate your concern. Right now I’m just trying to get the car on the road again after swapping in this rebuilt transmission. It’s running and driving as of today, but I’m have problems getting the Park to engage. When I get everything working as it should, I will start fine tuning. I was not aware of the reason for the change in the linkage until I read your post. Thanks for the heads up, and it is something I will address further down the road, probably after I get the engine rebuilt.
