I'm changing the engine for a friend of mine. A 72 Duster with cracked 225 with 904. The issue is that I have put together a 225. But the hole in th crankshaft where the converter goes is too small on the new engine.

Question is; does a converter from 1965 fit into a 1972 904 tranny?

Thanks for any help FABO

They are different Ulf, I'm not sure how but I think you need a newer converter than what you have. Memike was researching this recently and knows what you need or have to do, Shoot him a PM or you can PM me for his phone #

The pilot on the early 904 converter (1960-1967) measures 1.550" and all later converters had a 1.810" pilot.
In case you're wondering, NO, YOU CANNOT MACHINE THE PILOT DOWN", because it isn't thick enough to take any machining.
Your choice is A: get a custom converter made, a later one to fit the transmission, but with the mounting cover with the smaller pilot.
B: Use an early transmission.

Smilie is caused by trying to use the figure 8 next to a " ) " which is the "code" which calls up the "thang,"

like so ........... 8)
